Documents for Marriage between a Domestic Citizen and an Overseas Chinese

一、Domestic citizens are required to have:

aID card

bPermanent Residence Booklet

cMarital Status approved by their word place, residents’ committee or county (town) People’s Government.

d、Health certificate from the hospital designated by the Marriage Registration Office.
 

二、Overseas Chinese are required to have:

aPassport issued by the Chinese Embassy or Consulate General abroad.

bNon-spouse Certificate approved by the Notarization Office in his or her own country, or by the Chinese Embassy or Consulate General there.

For the overseas Chinese whose local government hasn’t establish diplomatic relations with China, they are required to have the notarized non-spouse certificate approved by a Notary Office in his or her own country, or by the Embassy or Consulate General of the third country, which has established diplomatic relations with both countries.

(Remarks: The Marital status certificate issued by the local Notary Office and notarized by the Chinese Embassy or Consulate General abroad are valid 3 months after being notarized, however ,register in China,the marital status certificate remain valid for six months.)

cA certificate of profession or reliable income.

d Health Certificate from the hospital designated by the Marriage Registration Office

The applicants need to submit 3 2-inch photographs, which show the couple together, the photographs should be half-length and bareheaded.

A divorcee must have a divorce certificate and the widowed must have a death certificate of the ex-spouse.
